GamerMom Update

GamerMom Update: DAY 17:  As you know, GamerMom fell and twisted her knee while attempting to rollerskate. What this means is that GamerMom – the bread-winner, care-taker, home maker, all-around-great gal, pants wearer of this family – now has to be served. And the kids and I are torturing her as much as we can.

GamerMom’s birthday was on the 29th and I went with a fruit theme this year (long story). The kids picked out fruit-themed socks and I got some nice pajamas. Then she opened the final package. A shiny–Red–Nintendo DS! With the Apple logo – no, that’s not just a sticker! The only Apple DS in the world. Believe it or not but she’s been gaming. Mario Kart with the boy, Cooking Mama with the whole family and Brain Voyage, Brain Age, and Big Brain Academy (she’s very bored).

Anyway, the short of it is, she’s fine. She’s got a couple more weeks of being bored all the time but the kids and I are keeping her entertained. She never would have expected it but GamerMom is becoming a bona fide gamer. Maybe games can’t heal, but they can distract, and sometimes that’s just what the Doctor – or GamerDad – ordered.

Love you honey, taking care of you is a breeze! And you’ll never beat my Brain Age!

This is exactly right, and why organizations like Child’s Play and John Thesins Toys for Sick Children (local here to Long Island) are so important. It is nice to see it applied to an adult too. :)

  2. Hard to believe its been over two weeks!! I am still working from home, calling my patients to check on them and coordinate their care. I miss doing the visits, I really love my job, love the patients I take care of and the staff I work with. I have been able to spend more time with my family. I get to play with my kids (from my chair) and spend time with my hubby! I also am playing games and LIKING it, even loving it!!! I am letting go and Andy is doing a great job in charge. The kids are my little helpers and actually like helping me and Andy… Things are good and I am healing.

  3. Hope you get well soon.

WE went roller skating during the holidays too and ever since my wife has complained (weekly) that her knee hurts.
