Game Review: Phantom Brave: The Hermuda Triangle (PSP)
Available on March 8, 2011 for PSP and PSN, Phantom Brave is a strategy RPG that turns everything you know about the genre upside down! Play as Marona, a young orphaned girl who has the power to communicate with spirits. Her guardian is Ash, who died trying to protect her parents from evil, and is now a phantom. Ash and Marona use their powers to help people so they can earn money to buy their island home. But soon they’ll end up saving the world in the process!
Game Review: Hyperdimension Neptunia (PS3)
Hyperdimension Neptunia is a typical turn-based Japanese RPG with a not so typical storyline and characters. The premise pokes fun of the video game business and its companies and consoles. A land called “Gameindustri” is ruled by four Goddesses, each one loosely representing a major game console maker (Wii, 360, PS3, etc.). One of these Goddesses, Neptunia, is cast down to the world below. Now as a human, Neptunia must use her transformation powers to defeat evil and unite the worlds in Gameindustri.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Cary is Muddled by Marvel
Last time on my blog I talked about all the Capcom characters in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (please read it if you haven’t already), so now we’ll go over the Marvel side. Now, keep in mind that I’ve never really gotten into comic books at all, and since I’m too lazy to do research, my silly observations on each character may sound very much uninformed. So that’s where you all come in. If you like comics and know a lot about Marvel characters, feel free to fill me in and correct my assumptions of each character on the list. It would be much appreciated. I have lots of friends who are into comic books, so every so often I’ve TRIED to get into them, too. But I just can’t. But I might try again soon since I hear Boom Comics is making some based on two of my favorite cartoons: Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers and Darkwing Duck. I think the only comic book series I ever REALLY got into was Sam & Max. But anyway, here are the Marvel characters in MvsC3.
Game Review: Back to the Future: The Game, Episode 2: Get Tannen! (PC)
Last time we left Marty and Doc in the Back to the Future point and click adventure from TellTale, Marty went back into the 1930’s prohibition era to rescue Doc Brown. After a run-in with Tannen’s gangster grandfather “Kid” Tannen, Marty and Doc safely return to 1986. Only to find that they altered the timeline somehow so that “Kid” Tannen never goes to jail and Marty’s grandfather Arthur is bumped off by his goons. Now, in order to avoid a present-day crime ridden Hill Valley run by Biff Tannen and his new brothers (not to mention Marty never being born), Doc and Marty must travel back to the 1930’s to make sure “Kid” Tannen gets arrested by Jennifer Parker’s (Marty’s girlfriend’s) grandfather, Officer Danny Parker!

Boxer the Unboxer “Unboxes” Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Collector’s Edition!
Hi, I’m Boxer the Unboxer! Arf! I’m a puppy sock puppet, and I love video games! Last time, I ‘unboxed’ the Little Big Planet 2 Collector’s Edition. This time, I’m ‘unboxing’ the collector’s edition of Marvel vs. Capcom 3! Click to check and see what all you get!
Donkey Kong Jenga
Two classic games: the arcade favorite Donkey Kong and the tried and true challenge of Jenga. You wouldn’t think at first that they would go together, but they actually do if you think about it. Donkey Kong is all about maneuvering through a teetering construction tower, and Jenga requires you make your wobbly tower as high as you can. So now you can do both in Donkey Kong Jenga. How high can you get?
The Games of Mario Sports Mix (Wii)
The recently released Mario Sports Mix for Wii is a collection of four arcade styled party Mario themed sports games. So in this blog, we’ll take a look at each one. Don’t think of this as a full review, though. Just my general first impressions of the game. I’m so busy right now with other things I don’t have time for a full review, but this’ll do for now, I think.
The Doctor’s Best Game(s) of 2010
It’s February, you say? I can’t write a Game of the Year article unless it’s early January? Well, I have two things to say to you. First, how do you know I didn’t write this last month and am only posting it now? Second, writing a “Game of the Year” column in early January doesn’t do justice to any title that released in December. Less than one month isn’t enough time (well, for a busy person like myself) to put a new game through its paces to see how it lasts. Any Game of the Year title needs to be awarded to games that can stand the test of time. Perhaps it should be like wedding thank you notes, one has a full year after the fact to get them in the mail!
OK, so on to the “awards”. While I’m a pretty diverse gamer in some respects (I now officially own most of the main consoles and handhelds), I do shy away from a major category, Shooters. I don’t mind an action/arcade title from time to time, but I simply don’t enjoy running around trying to peg virtual people/zombies/aliens in the head with some sort of new zap-gun. If there are enough story and RPG elements, I may pick up a trigger, but in general I’m looking for something more cerebral or simply family fun-oriented than can be found in most modern shooters. Let’s start by taking a look at the best I found for each platform.
