Reader Review: Puzzle Agent 2 (PC)

Put on your thinking caps and get out your ABC gum, because Puzzle Agent is returning to your PC from TellTale! Similar to the Professor Layton games on DS, Puzzle Agent 2 requires you to solve mini-puzzles while gathering clues to a bigger mystery. Since my brother Jeff enjoyed the first game so much, I decided to let him take a stab at the sequel. So here’s Jeff Orth’s review of Puzzle Agent 2!

Puzzle Agent 2 picks up where the first Puzzle Agent left off. After the official closing of the case, Agent Tethers of the FBI Puzzle Division senses that something isn’t right about how it all ended. There are still people missing with no leads as to where they might be. He decides to take some time off to once again visit the icy town of Scroggins, MN to see if he can’t find some closure to this mysterious case.

If you are not a fan of puzzle games then of course Puzzle Agent 2 is not the game for you, but if you are a fan then I expect you will have a lot of fun deciphering all sorts of puzzles in Agent Tethers continuing adventures. There were a few that involved math so it might be a good idea to brush up on anything from basic addition/subtraction to the order of equations (PEMDAS). I did not have too much trouble on these puzzles; however there were a few that stumped me for a while. In these instances Agent Tethers can pull out a wad of chewing gum to help him concentrate to give you a hint. You can find gum hidden in various places in the game; just click on them with your mouse to pick them up.

This game can be very eerie on various occasions, so very young children may be a little frightened during certain cut scenes. There is also talk of murder and finding bodies and while there are no actual dead bodies shown to the audience, it may not be appropriate for very young children. –Jeff Orth
