GenCon 2011 Report

Mayfair.Catan Plushies.GenCon.2011 2011-08-03 010 (Small)Since I’m nearly local, I make an annual journey down to Indianapolis once a year to visit GenCon, one of the largest gaming conventions in the U.S., and one of the most important for board game and role playing game fans.  This year, my family conveniently scheduled a reunion for the same weekend but I still managed to attend for the first day of the convention.  What follows is a small excerpt of some of the more interesting games I came across.  For details on some more obscure titles, visit my photo-centric overview over at the blog Opinionated Gamers.

Import Game Review: Taiko no Tatsujin Portable DX (PSP)

Recently I imported another game from Japan. It’s Taiko no Tatsujin Portable DX for PSP. In Japan there’s a popular series of music games where you hit a Taiko drum to the beat of the songs. A Taiko drum looks like a big barrel sitting on its side, and you’ve probably seen a Taiko drum in many movies and games from Japan, even if you didn’t know it! I really enjoy the Taiko drum video games, so here’s an extended review and blog about Namco’s latest!

Mix it up with Pac-Man & Galaga!

It’s been a while since I let my inner classic Namco fanboy loose, so here is an extended review and blog about Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions, which was released on 3DS last week. We’ll take a look at each game in the package. Plus, this isn’t the first time that Pac-Man and Galaga have been mixed together, so as a bonus, we’ll look at other games where the two have met.
